Some people are not a fan of cross-bred gundogs because, in some cases, when you buy a pure-bred dog you sort of know what to expect, but with a cross, there is always that combination of skills and abilities from two breeds that can be good but can also be challenging as far as training is concerned. But you can have that with pure breeds as well, I first came across Springadors from a friend whose father was a professional gamekeeper, he had a pure Lab and his friend had a pure Spaniel, both with great temperaments. I believe whatever dog you have, pure or cross breed, temperament on both sides is very important, don’t forget all dogs were a result of cross-breeding at one time. I decided to keep a Springador pup back from my Spaniel Pippa and my black Labrador Eddie, both dogs have a great temperament and work well, so Juke the Springador is a soft-going dog with a great temperament.
